In addition, there were cash contributions of $4,268 provided to local food banks to assist with operating funds and other expenses. All nine CAA institutions partnered with local food bank organizations and were given a seven-day period during the spring term to collect nonperishable foods and funds from their campus and surrounding community. Monetary donations were converted into pounds at a consistent rate for competition purposes.

In other words, they provide all the physical goods that children need to be safe, protected from the elements, and ready to learn. And by supplying them with high-quality used or new goods, they make children feel valued.
