Frank Holbrook

Frank Holbrook joined the Northeastern coaching staff in 2024, after five seasons as the Head Coach at Rhode Island College (RIC), working through the 2025 season primarily with the team's outfielders, and planning the offense. In Holbrook's two seasons with Northeastern, before taking a head coaching job at Providence College, the Huskies set 17 new single-season offensive program records, as the program reached new heights with a 49-win season in 2025.

The 2025 season marked the best year in modern program history, helped mainly by the consistency of Northeastern's outfield and offense - Holbrook's primary left fielder Harrison Feinberg put up career numbers, finishing with a final line of .367/.715/.455, good for a 1.170 OPS, while earning CAA Co-Player of the Year honors and being named the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Feinberg earned the program's first First Team All-America designation, when he was named to the NCBWA's First Team in June 2025. Northeastern's leadoff three were all outfielders, with Ryan Gerety and Cam Maldonado setting up Feinberg in the early part of the order. Gerety earned All-Tourament honors after belting seven hits across three CAA tournament games, while Maldonado returned to the All-CAA First Team for the second time in his career. Maldonado and Feinberg combined for 230 errorless chances with a pair of outfield assists, continuing Northeastern's outfield reputation of a 'No Fly Zone', evidenced by Harrison Feinberg's SportsCenter Top 10 play of a home run robbery of Kansas State.

In Holbrook's first season with the program, the Huskies led the Coastal Athletic Association in team batting average (.310), on-base percentage (.427) and total hits (597). The Huskies set seven new program records on offense as a team, including the most runs scored in a season (474), most doubles in a season (129) and most stolen bases in a season (163), and seven individual records led by graduate student Tyler Macgregor, who set new marks in single-season batting average (.402), hits (94), and doubles (29). MacGregor was joined by left fielder Alex Lane as the new program record holder for RBIs in a season (80), surpassing the 2018 mark of 63 set by Jake Farrell. Defensively, Holbrook's outfield accounted for 335 putouts with a fielding percentage of .982 and three assists, led by center fielder Mike Sirota with 128 putouts in center field.

In his five years at RIC Holbrook elevated the baseball program into one of the most competitive teams in the Northeast region, with an overall record of (115-51-1, .688). In 2023, RIC won the most games in school history (30-13) and secured the 2023 Little East Regular Season Championship (15-1 record), the first in school history. Due to his team’s success, Holbrook was named the 2023 Little East Coach of the Year. At RIC, Holbrook coached four All-Americans, sixteen All-New England selections and thirty-one all Little East Conference selections. In 2023, All-American Andrew Sears was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 10th Round of the Major League Baseball Draft. Senior pitcher Shaun Gamelin was the national strikeout leader with 143 strikeouts, establishing a new program record. Senior Outfielder Cam Santerre led the nation in stolen bases with 54 stolen bases. In 2022, RIC was one of the best hitting teams in the country. They finished 3rd in the country in runs per game (10.3), 10th in the country in home runs per game (1.38), 16th in the country in Batting Average (.337), 17th in the country in home runs (55) and 22nd in the country in runs scored (412).

Holbrook is most recently coming off a championship run with the Newport Gulls of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), coaching current Huskies Luke Beckstein and Aiven Cabral. Holbrook was named the 2023 Manager of the Year in the NECBL and the East Division All-Star Game Manager. In 2023, the Gulls finished the season 37-12 and had nine players selected in the 2023 Major League Baseball draft. Holbrook also served as the manager of the Gulls in 2022, winning the Coastal Division title with a 30-14 record. The Gulls saw three of their players get selected in the 2022 MLB draft, while two others signed free agent contracts.
