Jeff Vigurs is entering his fifth season with the Northeastern baseball program, and serves as the Huskies’ hitting coach and catching coordinator. He joined the team as a volunteer assistant coach, and has since been promoted as an assistant where his duties now include helping with recruiting efforts.
Â
In his tenure at Northeastern, Vigurs has coached three position players – catcher Jon Leroux, shortstop Jason Vosler, and outfielder Aaron Barbosa – who all went on to sign professional contracts.
Â
Vigurs joined the staff after a successful four-year campaign at Bryant University. A two-year captain for the Bulldogs, Vigurs was one of the best catchers in Bryant’s history. He finished his college career first all-time in doubles and second all-time in both hits and runs batted in, and his class of 2010 won a school-record 144 games. Vigurs was a two-time All-New England selection, NE-10 Freshman of the Year, and was voted to the Bryant All-Decade team. Following his senior season, the Chicago Cubs selected Vigurs in the 22nd round of the 2010 MLB Draft.Â
