Johnny Adams

  • Title
    Director of Player Development

Johnny Adams was named Director of Player Development in the offseason ahead of the 2026 season, marking his first year in this leadership role with the Huskies. A Boston College alum, Adams brings extensive playing and coaching experience to Northeastern.

Adams was selected in the 22nd round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners after a standout collegiate career at Boston College, where he was a four-year starter at shortstop, served as a team captain, earned the Unsung Hero Award, and ranked among the program’s career leaders in games played (203), at-bats (696), strikeouts (143), and sacrifice hits (24). He also recorded a 14-game hit streak that is tied for sixth in Boston College history.

Adams went on to play professionally from 2017-2021 in the Mariners organization, appearing in 393 minor league games with affiliates including the Everett AquaSox, Clinton LumberKings, and Modesto Nuts. Over his pro career, he compiled a .232 batting average with 32 home runs and 155 RBI, and during his first professional season he hit .316 with five home runs and 37 RBI in 52 games for Everett — finishing among league leaders in average, slugging percentage, and OPS.

Following his playing career, Adams transitioned into coaching and player development, working with prospects to refine on-field skills, strength of character, and performance habits. His deep ties to New England baseball, demonstrated leadership as a collegiate captain, and professional experience make him a valuable asset to the Huskies’ development pathway.

In his role with Northeastern, Adams will oversee key aspects of player skill refinement, training programs, and individualized development plans designed to help student-athletes maximize their potential on and off the field.
