Kevin Casey is entering his fifth season at Northeastern after joining the baseball staff in December 2014. Casey comes to Northeastern after spending the last two and a half years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Tufts University. While at Tufts, Casey served as the program’s recruiting coordinator, and worked primarily with the Jumbos’ hitters and infielders. In 2014, he helped guide Tufts to 34 wins, matching a single-season program record, and a trip to the NCAA Division III Regionals.
Â
Prior to coaching at Tufts, Casey spent three years at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire, where he served as the recruiting coordinator, infield, and hitting coach. He played an instrumental role in the Eagles’ coaching staff that led the program to a 14-win turnaround and its first winning season in school history in 2010. While at Daniel Webster, Casey guided the team to three consecutive 20-win campaigns, two conference championships, and the school’s first NCAA Division III Regional appearance in 2012.
Â
During his summers from 2009 to 2014, Casey served as the head coach of the New England Ruffnecks, one of the region’s top high school prospect programs. As manager of the Ruffnecks, Casey helped many high school baseball players reach the next level, coaching seven MLB Draft picks and several other athletes who went on to join the ranks of collegiate programs nationwide.
Â
Casey graduated from Tufts in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in history. As a player, he was an All-New England third baseman during his sophomore season, and served as the team captain in both 2008 and 2009. A four-year utility starter, Casey helped lead the Jumbos to four straight postseason berths, including three appearances in the NESCAC finals.
