Danny Young

Danny Young started his role as Director of Basketball Operations in 2017 and coordinates all team travel, recruits and supervises the student-manager program and leads a tech-driven initiative that includes online scheduling, high-tech scouting and coaching software, and video sharing platforms.

Young serves as the liaison between men's basketball and all campus departments, including Residential Life, Global Services and the Registrar's office. He also works closely with the NCAA Compliance team, business operations, equipment team, marketing and communications. 

As an undergrad, Young attended Northeastern University and served as the team's lead manager during the 2015 NCAA tournament run, NU's first trip to the Big Dance in 24 years. Young also assisted Director of Athletics and NCAA men’s basketball selection committee member, Peter Roby, on all facets regarding Roby’s committee duties.

Young has been able to learn from an esteemed group of coaches and staff while at Northeastern, including current head coach Bill Coen, UMass Lowell head coach Pat Duquette, Dartmouth head coach Dave McLaughlin, video analyst for the Oklahoma City Thunder Steve Scalzi, and current Director of Performance for the Boston Celtics Art Horne.

In 2013, while a student, Young was a Co-Founder and helped develop a company, The XO Project, with former Northeastern assistant coach and current video analyst Scalzi. The duo teamed up to assist rising basketball coaches all over the country build a library of plays, drills and speaking notes from some of the top coaches and teams in the game. In less than a year they generated thousands of website hits and YouTube followers.
 
A native of Riverdale, N.Y., Young earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Northeastern in 2015. He is currently working on his MBA and will receive his master's degree in May 2020.
