Pat Duquette is in his third season as associate head coach for the Huskies. He came to Northeastern after spending 13 seasons at Boston College.
Duquette served all 13 years under Al Skinner’s leadership, starting as an administrative assistant in 1997, becoming assistant coach in 2001 and earning a promotion to associate head coach in 2009. Duquette is now reunited with Northeastern head coach Bill Coen, as the pair served together under Skinner from 1997 until Coen’s departure for Northeastern in 2006.
In his 13 seasons at Boston College, Duquette played a key role in the Eagles’success. A highly-regarded recruiter who is also respected for his strategic insights, Duquette helped lead BC to postseason berths in eight of his last 10 seasons, including three Big East regular season titles and one Big East Tournament championship. He also helped develop three All-Americans (Troy Bell, Craig Smith and Jared Dudley), two conference players of the year (Bell twice and Dudley), four first-team All-Conference choices (Bell, Smith, Dudley and Tyrese Rice) and one conference Rookie of the Year (Bell) during his BC tenure.
Prior to working at Boston College, Duquette was an assistant coach at St. Michael’s College for two seasons (1995-97) and St. Lawrence University (1994-95) and Centenary College (1993-94) for one season apiece. In total, Duquette sports 19 years of collegiate coaching experience.
Duquette played college basketball at Williams College, where he served as team captain his senior season and led the Ephs to a top-10 national ranking. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Williams in 1993. After graduation, Duquette worked as an intern with the NBA’s New Jersey Nets and started his collegiate coaching career at Centenary at the same time. He earned his master’s degree from St. Michael’s in 1997.
