Ganiyat Adeduntan

Ganiyat Adeduntan joined the Northeastern women's basketball coaching staff in 2014 after a two-year stint as the head basketball coach at Wheelock College, where she led the Wildcats to their first playoff appearance in 12 years during her last season. In addition to matching the school record for wins in a season, she also led Wheelock to a school record in conference victories. Her 2013 recruiting class also produced the program’s first conference Rookie of the Year winner as well as a First Team All-Conference honoree for the first time since 2001.

Before her stint at Wheelock, Adeduntan was an administrative assistant for the Northeastern women’s basketball program, where she assisted the director of operations in overall functioning of the office as well as coordinating incoming and outgoing film exchange with opponents.

Prior to her coaching career, Adeduntan enjoyed a stellar playing career both at the prep and collegiate level. She was one of the top players in the nation coming out of high school and was a McDonald's All-American finalist as well as the Georgia Gatorade and Northeast Georgia Player of the Year. She burst onto the scene at Florida State, earning a spot on the All-ACC rookie team as an honorable mention and went on to garner ACC All-Conference honorable mention accolades following her junior campaign. She was also named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team.

A captain for the Seminoles in her final season, she finished her career as just one of 19 players in school history to score more than 1,000 career points. She was also a standout in the classroom and was named to the ACC Academic Team all four years at Florida State, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

She began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Florida State University School (Florida High) varsity program in Tallahassee, Florida, where she helped guide the Seminoles to the Class 3A state championship in 2007. Two seasons later, she was named the head varsity coach for North Florida Christian School, leading the Eagles to the 2009 district crown.  During her time in Florida, her passion for basketball and teaching came together again when she served as an instructor for the Essence Girls Basektball Squad at the AAU Level.

She went on to receive a masters in nursing as a nurse practitioner from Florida State before earning a doctor of nursing practice from Northeastern in 2012.
