Rashard Thurston

Currently in his fourth year at Northeastern and third in his current position, director of women's basketball operations Rashard Thurston is an integral part of NU's success on the floor and its operation off the floor.

Thurston, who recently completed his masters degree in Sports Leadership at Northeastern, came to the Huskies prior to the 2009-10 season as an administrative assistant. He was elevated to the director of women's basketball operations the next season, becoming the first ever director of operations for the women's basketball program. In his current role, Thurston oversees all travel, budgetary functions, video coordination, and serves as the liaison between the coaching staff and NU's strength and conditioning and sports medicine staff. He also oversees the daily operations of the program.

Prior to his arrival in Boston, Thurston served as a successful high school coach at Lakeland High School and King High School in his native Florida. He also taught U.S. History, psychology and economics at both schools.

Thurston graduated from Florida A&M University in 2006 with a degree in social science education. While in college, he was a member of the United States Army Reserves from 1998 to 2004, serving tours in Egypt and Iraq.

A Miami native, Thurston presently resides in Jamaica Plan with his wife, Idia, and his son, Zele.
