Robbie Belden

Robbie Belden joined the Northeastern volleyball staff as an assistant coach in 2019.

Belden joins the Huskies with seven years of experience, having most recently spent two seasons as an assistant coach on Campbell University's volleyball team. While there, he assisted with recruiting, team travel, and opponent scouting, in addition to helping develop the team's offensive attack.

"I am thrilled to have Robbie on staff as he brings a wealth of experience and setting expertise," head coach Caitlin Schweihofer said. "He is a great relationship builder, yet also brings a high level of volleyball knowledge to our gym. He is passionate about taking the Northeastern volleyball program to a championship level, while still offering our student-athletes the opportunity to balance their academic pursuits and personal growth."

In 2017, Belden helped guide Campbell to its first 20-win season since 1998. The Camels finished the year 20-12 overall and earned the program's first postseason berth to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.

Before Campbell, Belden served as a volunteer assistant coach at UConn for two years, helping train setters, build offensive game plans, plan team travel, and put together opponent scouting reports. He also spent three years at Hartford as an assistant coach, helping guide the team to its first above-.500 record in over 20 seasons while three players made the all-conference team in his final season.

While at Hartford and UConn, Belden also operated as the head coach for the Husky Volleyball Club for seven years, seeing four teams in the U15-U17 group qualify for junior nationals.

Belden received his undergraduate degree in 2011 from UConn in political science. He earned his masters in Athletic Administration from Springfield College in 2015.

Belden played volleyball at Glastonbury High School where he was a setter and earned all-state honors during his senior year. He also played four seasons of club volleyball at UConn and was the club president for three of those years.
