The Northeastern men's basketball team lost to Indiana 103-65 in first round action of the Hoosier Classic at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Thursday night.
The Huskies got off to a rough shooting start (6-26) and fell behind 51-19 at the break. NU turned the ball over a total of 18 times in the first frame and was never able to recover.
For the first five minutes of the second half, NU was able to keep up with the Hoosiers' pace, sparked by great play from freshman walk-on Rubens Amedee. In 17 minutes of action, Amedee logged career-highs in points (9), rebounds (4), assists (2) and steals (1).
Senior Marcus Blossom led the Huskies in scoring with 15 points, while fellow classmate Tyrone Hammick (10) and junior Ricky Cranford (11) also scored in double-figures. Blossom's 15 points puts him 15th on NU's all-time scoring list, six points behind Andre LaFleur's (1983-87) total of 1143.
Andre Owens led the IU attack with 20 points as the Hoosiers had five guys score in double-digits.
Northeastern has lost four straight and falls to 1-7 on the season as Indiana improves to 8-5 overall.
Next up for the Huskies is the consolation game of the Hoosier Classic between either Colorado State or Valparaiso.
