The Huskies allowed three unearned runs in a 4-2 loss to Hartford in the first game of an America East doubleheader. NU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Hernan Guerrero led off with a triple and came home to score on a Luke Carlin ground out.
The Hawks (4-19, 2-7 America East) tied the game with an unearned run in the fourth and then took the lead for good in the fifth on a two-run homer by Ron Accabo. Matt Denorfia started the inning by reaching on an error by third baseman Mike Lomuscio. NU starting pitcher Chris Walsh then retired the next two batters before Accabo struck his game-winning blow.
Todd Korchin got one run back with a solo home run in the last of the fifth, but the Hawks kept the Huskies off the board after that. Walsh finished as the tough-luck loser, allowing eight hits and one earned run, while striking out five with no walks, in a complete-game effort.
