Jason Gillespie struck out seven Harvard batters, and held the Crimson to just two runs (one earned) in leading Northeastern to a 4-2 non-conference win at Friedman Diamond. Todd Korchin robbed Harvard's Javier Lopez of a three-run home run at the right field wall to end the game.
The Huskies managed to score four runs on just six hits against three Harvard hurlers. Brendan Ryan was the only NU hitter with two hits. NU still left 14 runners on base, as a result of six walks, three hit batsmen and three reaching via error. NU scored twice on bases-loaded walks, including one by Todd Korchin to force home Mike Lomuscio and break a 2-2 tie in the seventh. Lomuscio singled to drive in Hernan Guerrero with an insurance run in the eighth.
Luke Carlin threw out all three Crimson baserunners attempting to steal. Ryan's second-inning double was the only extra-base hit of the game.
