Northeastern erupted for seven runs on five hits in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Army on Saturday morning at the Bollettieri Complex.
Army (1-7) led 1-0 and 2-1 before the Huskies tied the score in the sixth inning on consecutive one-out doubles by Omar Pena and Paul Koslowski.
The Black Knights were one strike from escaping unscathed in the seventh, but Erik Hagstrom lined a single to centerfield, scoring Matt Morizio with what proved to be the game-winning run. The Huskies would add six more runs off Army reliever Dan Capello in the inning. Kozlowski again had a big hit, knocking a two-run single to make it a 5-2 edge. Miguel Paquette then delivered a two-RBI double for a 7-2 cushion. Jeff Heriot later added a two-run double of his own to complete the scoring and put the Huskies comfortably ahead.
The rally made a winner of NU's Jordan Thomson (1-1), who pitched the first six innings. Matt Piryk closed out the game by pitching the final inning for the Huskies.
The Black Knights managed just three singles in the contest, placing only five runners on base throughout the seven-inning game.
