Hartford rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat Northeastern, 5-3, in game two of an America East doubleheader at Friedman Diamond.
With the game tied at three in the top of the seventh, Hartford's Matt Denorfia reached on an error by NU shortstop Arman Sidhu. After stealing second, Denorfia scored on an RBI single by Ron Accabo to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead. Hartford would add an insurance run on an RBI single by Ryan Waldron, scoring Accabo, who had stolen second base.
Hartford started its rally in the top of fifth when Ryan Cuscovitch hit a three-run double to right center off NU starter Justin Hedrick to tie the game at three. Hedrick went 4 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on three hits, while striking out seven.
NU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Miguel Paquette RBI single, scoring Tim Bush, who had doubled to left center. Brad Czarnowski followed with a solo home run to right center in the third inning. Bush added an RBI single, scoring Chris Emanuele to extend the Husky lead to three. Bush went 2-2 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored, but lost his second decision on the season in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
The Huskies now stand at 9-17 (3-7 America East) on the season, while the Hawks improved to 4-22-1 (2-4).
