Baseball

Northeastern 7, Pace 3 (game 2)

The Huskies completed a four-game weekend sweep of Pace on Sunday afternoon with a 7-3 win in the second game of a doubleheader. The Huskies improved to 19-19 overall, reaching the .500 mark for the first time this season while Pace dropped to 9-40 on the season.

Northeastern broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tim Bush and Jeff Heriot started the rally as they both reached base on infield hits. Paul Koslowski then singled in Bush. Koslowski successfully stole second but left the game after he was injured on the slide. He was replaced by Brian Nutting. Matt Morizio walked, loading the bases for Mike Steinberg, who doubled up the middle to plate two runs. Brad Czarnowski then singled to right field, scoring Steinberg and Morizio, making the score 7-2.

Starter Jim Madison staved off a Pace threat in the top of the fifth after he allowed a run but got Setter catcher Brian Huffman to ground out and strand two men on base. Madison allowed three runs in six innings before Bush relieved him and pitched a scoreless seventh to preserve the victory.

The Huskies coughed up two runs in the top of the second to go down 2-0 but came back in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own to tie it. Bush and Arman Sidhu scored on a Koslowski single for the runs.

In their next action, the Huskies take on Vermont in a doubleheader on Tuesday that was postponed from April 5.
