ortheastern came back from a 34-31 halftime deficit, out-scoring Binghamton 38-23 in the second half, to capture an important 69-57 win Wednesday night in front of 3,215 fans at the Events Center.

After Brandon Carter's three with 6:38 to play cut the Husky advantage to one, at 49-48, Northeastern went on a 12-2 run to open up a 61-50 lead with 1:03 to play. Jose Juan Barea scored eight of the Huskies' points in that stretch.

The Huskies (17-9, 11-4) held the Bearcats scoreless from the 5:39 mark of the second half until there were 59 seconds left in the game, a span of 4:40.

NU took an 8-6 lead on a Cornellius Wright basket with 14:06 left in the first half, but the Bearcats went to a 17-4 run over the next five minutes to go up 23-12. Sebastian Hermenier had six points in the stretch.

The Huskies responded by scoring 13 of the next 15 points over the next 4:40 to tie it at 25-25. Jesse Dunn's four-point play with 4:26 remaining in the half brought NU even.

Binghamton (12-14, 8-7) built the lead back up to six, at 34-28, but Marcus Barnes banked in a three-pointer just before the halftime buzzer and the Husklies trailed just three, 34-31, at the intermission. Binghamton out-shot NU 42 percent (14-for-33) to 29 percent (10-34) in the first stanza.

With BU up 39-37, Northeastern went on a 9-0 run, with Barnes scoring the last two baskets, to open up a 46-39 lead with 14:10 left in the game.

The Huskies then went scoreless for the next 4:34, but Binghamton could muster only four points in that time, making it a 46-43 game. Barea's three with 9:52 left broke the NU scoring drought.

Barea led the way with 24 points, 16 in the second half. He was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, including 6-of-6 in the final 2:27. Barnes was the only other Husky in double figures with 16. Sylbrin Robinson, battling a fever, pulled down 14 rebounds, while Javorie Wilson nearly recorded a double-double, with nine points and 10 boards.
