Northeastern won its second game in a row on Sunday, defeating William and Mary 1-0 at Parsons Field. NU is now 5-9-1 overall with a 2-5-0 CAA record. The team's lone goal was scored by senior midfielder Jessica Pfeifer in the first period. Mariel Wilner also shined, coming up with her second consecutive shutout.
The game's only goal came at the 23 minute mark. Husky defender Amanda Sesto's shot from deep was blocked by William and Mary goalkeeper Kellie Fenton. However, Jessica Pfeifer picked up the rebound quicklyand fired the ball right back at Fenton and into the net. It was the senior captain's first goal of the season.
Wilner had four saves in her third shutout of the season. She is now 5-8-1 on the season with a 1.81 goals against average.
Northeastern out-shot the Tribe 15-12 and had five shots on goal to William and Mary's 3. The game was extremely clean as only three fouls were called during the entire contest. The Huskies will be back in action this Friday when they travel to North Carolina to face UNC Wilmington in their seventh conference game of the year
