Sophomore Randall Hanke scored a career-high 34 points on 15-of-23 shooting to lead Providence to a 92-70 victory Northeastern in a non-conference men's basketball matchup played Tuesday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.

The Friars, who trailed by 11 points with 3:10 to play in the first half, strung together a 31-0 run over the next 10:29 to put the Huskies away. Northeastern opened the second half 0-for-11, while the Friars converted nine of their first 12 shots. Hanke's layup and free throw at the 18:50 marker of the second put the Friars on top as they never looked back, building their lead to as many as 25. Hanke finished the night with 34 points and 12 rebounds as he led the Friar attack down low. He and freshman Geoff McDermott each recorded double-double efforts for PC, as McDermott had 10 points and 16 rebounds. Overall, the Friars outscored Northeastern in the paint by a margin of 64-28. Providence also outrebounded NU, 51-37.

Northeastern opened the game at a blistering pace, converting its first five shots, including four 3-pointers to jump out to a 14-6 lead at the 16:40 mark of the first half. The Friars remained close throughout the half, but junior Bobby Kelly's layup with 3:10 in the first capped a 14-3 run to give Northeastern a 39-28 advantage, its largest lead of the game. However, the Huskies' hot-shooting cooled as they would not score again until a layup by Janon Cole with 12:38 to play in the second half.

Senior Jose Juan Barea led Northeastern with 18 points and 11 assists and Kelly converted 6-of-10 shots for 15 points. Sophomore Shawn James scored 14 points and blocked 7 shots, while senior Janon Cole scored 10 and junior Bennet Davis grabbed 10 rebounds. For Providence, senior Donnie McGrath scored 16, including his 1,000th career point.

The Huskies return to action next Tuesday, as they travel to Dayton, Ohio to take on Wright State in a non-conference game beginning at 7 p.m.
