The Northeastern University women's soccer team dropped its second game in a row to James Madison 4-2 Sunday. It is the first time this season the Huskies have lost two consecutive games.
James Madison took an early lead, scoring two goals in the first 13 minutes on junior keeper Annie Petrofsky. The first goal came in the fifth minute. JMU's Natalie Ewell shot the ball into the left corner from 11 yards out. Melanie Schaffer, who assisted Ewell's goals, scored the Dukes' second goal from 25 yards out. With two minutes left in the half freshman Sophia Palmquist scored off a penalty kick to bring the Huskies within one.
In the second half James Madison's Sarah Cebulski shot the ball into the right corner from 15 yards away to put the Dukes up 3-1.
Senior co-captain Kristin Kowalik put Northeastern within one when she scored unassisted on an open goal in the 61st minute. With the goal Kowalik is tied with redshirt freshman Liza Rebello for the team lead with five.
The Dukes put the game away with a goal in the 77th minute from Corky Julien.
Petrofsky made eight saves in the loss.
The Huskies head to Delaware Friday to take on the Fightin' Blue Hens at 7 p.m.
