The women's soccer team are a perfect 2-0 against Colonial Athletic Association Opponents after a 2-0 win over Towson Sunday at Parsons Field.
The Huskies dominated the game outshooting the Tigers 23-2 and NU's defense had another strong performance from junior back Laura Johnson. The Tigers did not register a shot on goal in the contest. Northeastern's first goal came on a shot from freshman midfielder Sophia Palmquist that a Towson defender headed into her own goal in the 45th minute. However, the Huskies had chances before that but Towson goalie Brandie Daniels had six saves in the first half including mutliple diving saves. Northeastern also had a bit of bad luck taking shots of the crossbar and posts.
In the 58th minute senior co-captain Siobhan Howard scored her first goal of the season off a pass from sophomore forward Caitlin Whelan. Whelan dribbled up the middle and passed the ball off to her right and Howard put it in the lower left corner.
The Tigers best chance to score came less than ten minutes later when junior forward Marissa Gross shot the ball off the post with an empty net. Johnson managed to clear the ball ending the threat.
The Huskies are back in action Friday at Old Dominion at 7 p.m.
