Boston College 4, Northeastern 3

Northeastern suffered a 4-3 loss to the No. 14 Boston College Eagles Friday in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Huskies drop to 7-9 (1-3 CAA) with the loss.

Northeastern got on the board in the first two minutes of the game when Pam Aldridge was taken down in front of the BC goal. Aldridge was awarded a penalty stroke, which she converted for her eighth goal of the season.

BC almost got on the board minutes later when a penalty corner shot by Chelsey Feole went just over the crossbar. Both teams generated good offensive opportunities and sustained possession, but Northeastern was able to convert in into goals after a quick attack led to an NU penalty corner. Jillian Wilkes put the ball in play, and Anne-Reike Stuhlmann settled the ball for Pam Aldridge, who buried the shot in the lower left corner for her second goal of the game.

The Huskies almost blew the game wide open at the 15-minute mark when Meg Sweeney and Carolyn Malloy fired quick shots from point blank range, but Eagles goalkeeper Julia Berkowitz made two quick saves and cleared the ball to end the threat.

BC mounted a strong attack late in the period, keeping the ball pinned in Northeastern's end. The Eagles eventually earned a penalty corner from their sustained pressure, and Feole beat Northeastern goalkeeper Colleen Duffy with a shot to the lower left corner.

A quick fast break in the last seconds of the first half led to another Boston College penalty corner, and Feole converted for the second time in three minutes to level the game at 2.

The Huskies started the second half strong, and mounted an early attack, but strong defense from the Eagles ended the Huskies' threat. BC counterattacked quickly, and Feole, out in front of the Eagles' fast break, got on the end of a pass and pushed it past Duffy to complete her hat trick and give BC their first lead of the game.

Northeastern answered back off a penalty corner ten minutes into the period. Wilkes sent the ball in to Stuhlmann, who settled it for Ashley Bascetta. Bascetta fired the ball towards the left post, where Wilkes got a stick on it and redirected it past Berkowitz to tie the game at three.

BC's offense did not let up, and executed a set play off a penalty corner to create an open shot for Feole. Feole beat Duffy on a mid-range shot from the left side for her fourth goal of the game, and put the Eagles back on top.

The Huskies battled hard to find the equalizer in the next ten minutes, as the action stayed mostly in the midfield. Kaela Barker and Pam Aldridge contributed hard, physical play as Northeastern worked to push the ball into the Eagles' end. They saw a quality scoring opportunity off a penalty corner with 7:32 remaining, but Ashley Bascetta could not find the back of the cage. The Huskies struggled to create another good scoring opportunity, and BC ran out the clock to secure the 4-3 win.

The Huskies play their next game Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. when they begin the second half of their conference slate at Sweeney Field against the Drexel Dragons. They host Hofstra on Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. Both games will have live web video at GoNU.tv
