BOSTON -- Northeastern field hockey returns to the road this weekend for a pair of matchups, opening with a CAA showdown at Drexel on Friday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. before taking on crosstown rival Boston University on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS – Northeastern opens the weekend against a Drexel team that enters at 12-3 overall and 3-1 in CAA play, tied with the Huskies for third in the conference standings. The Dragons have won five straight games, outscoring opponents 26-3 during that stretch. Drexel has picked up convincing victories over Hofstra (6-1), Lehigh (5-0), Towson (5-2) and Lock Haven (8-0), while also earning a 5-0 win over Lehigh on Oct. 11. Sunday's matchup brings Northeastern to New Balance Field to face Boston University, which enters at 6-8 overall and 3-1 in Patriot League play. The Terriers opened October with emphatic wins over Lehigh (7-1) and Holy Cross (3-1), but have since dropped three straight, including losses to Boston College and No. 5 Harvard last weekend.Â
2. LAST TIME OUT – Northeastern played its penultimate home game last Sunday with a 3-1 Senior Day victory over Maine, honoring graduating seniors Amelia Albers and Julia Puccio. Maddie Funk opened the scoring in the first quarter off an assist from Albers for her first career goal, but Maine evened the contest in the second quarter. Alex Mega put the Huskies back in front just 1:49 into the second half, finishing a pass from Puccio before adding her second goal of the afternoon in the fourth quarter off an assist from Juana Gonzalez-Peyru. Mega's two-goal performance marked her second multi-goal game of the season, while both Albers and Puccio recorded assists on Senior Day. Aiko Price made two saves as Northeastern held on for the 3-1 win.
3. LOVE THAT DIRTY WATER – Northeastern and Boston University renew their crosstown rivalry Sunday, with the Huskies looking to extend their recent success against the Terriers. Northeastern has won each of the last two meetings, earning a 3-1 victory at Dedham Field in 2025 and a 4-2 win at BU's New Balance Field in 2024. This came after a two-game streak by BU in the series with a double overtime win at New Balance in 2023, and an overtime win over the Huskies in Dedham in 2022.Â
