Youth directs Huskies at Harvard

Results

The Northeastern women's track & field team put its best foot forward at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, finishing with a pair of titles, five second-place performances and six third-place showings.

Freshman Laura Coyne earned her first collegiate victory in the 800-meter race with a winning-mark of 2:24.62. Sophomore Christi Gallagher solidified second place, coming in at 2:27.15.

Jillena Decarteret, another Northeastern newcomer, claimed her first-career victory by springing or 3.50m in the pole vault.

Junior Seri Gordon was awarded second for her mark of 2:57.72 in the 1,000-meter run.

Senior tri-captain Consandria Walker booked it for second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.12 while second-year sprinter Sarah Trotman finished immediately behind in 26.35. Walker snagged another second-place performance by clearing 5.31m in the long jump.

Sophomore Saleena Abudr-Rashed cleaned up right behind Walker in fifth with a spring of 5.10m.

Junior Annie Scully took third place in the mile with at a clip of 5:20.21 while classmate Jillian Buck turned out a fifth-place mark of 5:22.16.

Rookie Samantha Stabile grabbed fourth in the 400-meter dash after registering a time of 1:01.50.

Freshman Karissa Mako and sophomore Kathleen Keen represented the Huskies in the 3,000-meter run, finishing with respective marks of 11:24.97 and 11:35.81, for 10th and 11th place.

The Northeastern 'A' 4 x 440 yard relay race yielded a second-place finish for Northeastern with a combined mark of 4:02.72. The Huskies 'B' and 'C' teams came in at third and fourth with times of 4:24.14 and 4:47.34.

Junior Althea Brown uncorked a toss of 16.86m in the weight throw for fourth place while newcomer Julie Westover picked up sixth with a fling of 15.60m. Charles made the podium in the shot put after recording a toss of 13.42m for third place.

Junior Rachel Cassata and freshman Sara Hancock logged combinations of 9.93m and 9.90m, respectively in the triple jump for second and third place.

Sophomore Regan Cleminson rounded out the high jump in fourth with a leap of 1.55m while fourth-year member Andrea Govatsos churned out a mark of 1.50m for fifth place.

The Huskies will take a weekend off before returning to the Reggie Lewis Center to host the Boston Indoor Game on Friday, January 29.
