BOSTON, Mass. — Following top performances in Connecticut this past weekend, the Northeastern track and field team prepares for three meets along the East Coast. The Huskies begin their weekend with the first day of the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational and Friar Invitational on Friday, April 10, followed by the second day at Miami on Saturday, April 11, along with the UMass Commonwealth Invitational.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- MOVING UP — The Huskies did not slow down in setting all-time marks at the UConn Dog Fight. Led by freshman Matthew St. Cyr, recording the second furthest javelin throw, where he threw a mark of 66.66m in Connecticut. Both 4x100 relay teams also set top ten marks at the UConn Dog Fight, as the women ran a 45.74 for the fourth fastest mark in outdoor school history, and the men a 40.04 for the sixth fastest time. Other top ten performers included sophomore Jaice Dorsey ranking sixth in the 100mH (13.96) and tenth in the long jump (5.81m) and sophomore Sloan Hinton setting the seventh fastest time in the 400mH (61.01).
- UP AND DOWN THE COAST — Northeastern is competing along the East Coast for the second straight week. The team returns to Florida for their final meet in the Sunshine State as they compete at the University of Miami and travel simultaneously to Providence and Amherst. The Huskies were excellent at last year's Friar Invitational, the meet was highlighted by three Huskies setting top ten times in the women's mile, led by graduate student Stephanie Kriss (5:04.79). Graduate student Lucy Abdow (5:05.66) and Lauren Trejo (5:05.99) crossed the line for the ninth and tenth fastest outdoor miles.
- CAA CHECK-IN —The Huskies currently rank first in three events, second in seven, and third in eight so far this season in the CAA. In March, graduate student Kyle Sarney clocked an 8:41.67 in the 3000m steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays and has held the top spot in the CAA ever since. In the field, freshman Matthew St. Cyr leads the conference in the javelin with a mark of 66.66m. At the UConn Dog Fight, the 4x100m relay team of Stroup, Williams, Felton III, and Berry posted a conference-best time of 40.04.
