Nicky Graham potted two goals, including the game-winner, to send Northeastern to its first CAA tournament since 2007 with a 4-3 overtime win at Virginia Commonwealth.
The Huskies will finish the regular season on Sunday before they find out who, where and when they play in next weekend's tournament.
Graham's overtime strike, her seventh goal of the season, came when
Carolyn Malloy drove down the center of the field and put on shot towards goal. Graham was in the perfect position for the redirection, and she deftly tipped past VCU goaltender Erin Jablonski (seven saves).
Malloy got Northeastern on the board first just 5:33 into the contest.
Crystal Poland crossed the ball towards the right post, where Malloy tipped it home for her ninth goal of the season.
The Rams evened the score at the 22:06 mark when Stephanie DeMasi beat
Lizzie Priest (six saves) to tie the score, 1-1. The game remained deadlocked until Kelsey Scherrer put VCU ahead with her 14th goal of the season at the 50:04 mark.
Northeastern responded with back-to-back goals. First,
Anne-Rieke Stuhlmann potted her fourth goal of the season, with
Kaela Barker providing the assist. Then, at the 66:28 mark, Graham notched her first goal of the game when she redirected a Poland shot.
VCU sent the game to overtime when Flore van Dessel converted a penalty stroke with just 45 seconds remaining in regulation. The joy failed to last on the Rams' bench, however, after Graham sealed the Huskies' postseason fate with her game-winner.
Northeastern wraps up the regular season when the Huskies travel to James Madison on Sunday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
