The Northeastern men's cross country team finished in 15th place in a field of 39 teams at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Regional Championship at Hammonaset Park in Madison, Conn.

Freshman Eric Jenkins anchored Northeastern's effort for the fifth-consecutive race, leading the Huskies in every meet he's competed in this fall.

“The guys ran very well today,” distance coach Renny Waldon said. “ We return all of our scorers for next year. Jenkins ran great, as he has all year, and proved he is one of the top freshman runners in the region. The future is bright for Northeastern cross country and track & field”.

Waldron was dead on with his assessment as Jenkins emerged as the top rookie on Saturday. The Portsmouth, N.H. turned in a 25th-place mark of 30:47.3 in the rookie's first collegiate 10K challenge.

Classmate Brian Doyle concluded his freshman campaign with a 69th-place mark of 31:40.6 while veteran Teddy Vrountas crossed the 10K in 32:00.5 for 92nd place.

Sophomores Daniel Grant and John Jantz closed out the scoring for the Huskies with respective scores of 32:11.6 and 32:21.3 for 102nd and 111th.

Seniors James Pellerano and Joe Siravo rounded out Northeastern's contingent with times of 32.39.5 and 33:15.6, respectively, for 130th and 160th.

Jenkins bested 204 harriers in Saturday's meet.

The Huskies conclude their 2010 season on a high note and will now shift their focus to the indoor season. Northeastern will host the 2nd annual Jay Carisella Track & Field Invitational on Friday, Dec. 4 at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center.
