Box ScoreBox Score

Hofstra held Northeastern to just 25 percent from the floor for the game to defeat the Huskies 53-37 on Sunday afternoon. The Pride had three players reach double figures while Northeastern was led by Brittany Wilson with 11 points.

Hofstra started the game on an 8-0 run before Northeastern picked up its first field goal at the 16:09 when Jamie Conroy was fouled after converting a lay up. Conroy hit the free throw to put the Huskies on the board at 8-3. The Huskies were then hard-fought to find the basket, with stretch of 5:49 without a field goal. Meanwhile, the Pride pushed out to a 12-point lead with 2:47 remaining and held the score to that margin at the half, 27-15.

Conroy led Northeastern with five points as the team made only six field goals in the opening frame. Hofstra shot 44 percent from the floor with Jess Fuller leading the way with eight points.

Northeastern would come out with a pressure defense that frustrated the Pride early in the second half, forcing multiple turnovers but Hofstra was still able to maintain a double-digit lead. Northeastern cut into the lead to make it a six-point game after Kashaia Cannon hit a three pointer, bringing the score to 39-33. Hofstra however went on a 12-2 to push out to a 16-point lead at 51-35.

The Huskies held Hofstra to 30 percent from the floor, but only shot 28 percent for themselves. Northeastern had 15 steals, which matches a season high. Shante Evans led the Pride with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Candie Bellocchio also had 13 while Jess Fuller had 12. Hofstra improves to 18-11 overall and 11-6 in the CAA.

Northeastern falls to 12-16 overall and 7-10 in league play. The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, March 3 taking on Virginia Commonwealth at Solomon Court for Senior Night at 7 p.m.
