Zara Northover, a four-time CAA outdoor champion for Northeastern (2003-07), finished second in the shot put with a final mark of 17.04m at the 2010 XXI Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico earlier this week.
Northover competed for Jamaica at the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing to become the first female athlete from Northeastern University to compete in the Summer Olympics.
As a senior, Northover was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Field Athlete of the Year after winning the shot put (53'2.75), discus (145'6) and hammer throw (157'5) and placed seventh in the javelin, helping lead Northeastern to their first CAA title in any sport.
