Paced by sophomore forward Carolyn Malloy's second goal of the season and behind a career-high 13 saves from sophomore goaltender
Lizzie Priest, the Huskies earned their third-straight win, a 1-0 triumph over the No. 15 Boston University Terriers.
In giving BU its first blemish of the season, Northeastern earned its first win of the season over a ranked opponent. The Huskies previously lost to then-No. 8 Syracuse on Aug. 29.
The Terriers dominated much of the first half, recording the first 11 shots of the contest. However, the Huskies made their first shot of the game count. After sophomore forward
Crystal Poland forced a turnover, Malloy ran towards goal and deftly lifted a shot over the keeper for the 1-0 advantage. It was Malloy's second goal of the season.
BU finished the first half with 12 shots, seven of them on goal. It was more of the same in the second half, as Priest and the Husky defense faced 12 more shots in the frame. Priest made eight saves in the second half, and sophomore back
Beth Cobby recorded a defensive save.
BU had a great chance to tie the game in the final 30 seconds with one of its seven penalty corners, but Priest made a leg save and then forced a second attempt wide to preserve the shutout, her first of the season.
Northeastern will look to win its fourth straight game on Wednesday, Sept. 15 when the Huskies host Providence at Sweeney Field. Game time is set for 2 p.m. Fans can check out all the action on
