The Northeastern men's and women's soccer teams will join together on Saturday, Oct. 29, to rally around one of their own — alumnus and former player Glen Jusczyk '98 — as his young daughter, Malia, battles cancer.
Earlier this spring, Glen — a four-year player and All-America East selection for the Huskies — and his wife, Megan, were told that Malia has an aggressive childhood cancer known as stage IV neuroblastoma.
The family returned to Massachusetts from Orlando, Fla., so that Malia, who is two-and-a-half-years old, could undergo treatment at Children's Hospital Boston and the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
On Oct. 29, during a rare soccer doubleheader at Northeastern's Parsons Field, the teams will help to raise funds for the Jusczyk family.
Fans are encouraged to join the soccer programs in rallying around their fellow Husky. In addition to the athletic events, there will be activities throughout the day for fans, including a yoga session starting at 1:30 p.m. led by soccer alumna Brenna Matthews, face painting, tattoos and more.
Fans are also encouraged to ride their bikes to the game and get a free safety check and tune-up courtesy of MyBike, which is owned by soccer alumnus LeRoy Watkins. Computers will be set up at the field for fans to show their support and make a donation to help Malia in her fight against cancer.
On the field, both squads will be playing in their final home games of the season.
The women's team will host Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival Hofstra at 3 p.m., while the men's team will face CAA foe Old Dominion at 6 p.m. Fittingly, the day also will be Alumni Day for both soccer programs.

Northeastern Athletics thanks 5 Rights FC, One Mission, Friends for Matty, ConKerr Cancer, the Ronald McDonald House and Tasty Burger for their support of Malia and the Jusczyk family.
