Women's soccer defeated the Georgia State Panthers on the road Sunday morning, 3-2. The Huskies improve to 9-8-1 on the year and 5-4-1 in the CAA.

The Huskies overcame an early 1-0 deficit to win a critical CAA matchup.

Georgia State took the early advantage in the 23rd minute when  forward Sarah Bennett scored her first goal of the year. Bennett powered a shot from just outside the penalty area to the lower right corner past NU goalkeeper Paige Burnett. The goal was assisted by Alyssa Feronti.

Senior forward Veronica Napoli equalized the match just six minutes later. Napoli took a feed from Kirby Anderson and dribbled her way past the Panther goalkeeper to notch her team-leading tenth tally of the season.

The Panthers regained the lead in the 53rd minute. After a flurry which included two straight shots and corner kicks, Panther forward Jewel Evans scored her eighth goal on the season, getting a foot on a corner from Feronti.

Hannah O'Donnell tied the game at two apiece in the 64th minute. Napoli dropped a ball to O'Donnell at the 18. O'Donnell then beat the keeper for her first tally on the season.

The Huskies finally took the lead, 3-2, in the 80th minute when Greta Samuelsdottir put home a ball that was battled for in front of the net off a corner by Anderson. The goal was Samuelsdottir's eighth of the year.

Northeastern held on for the victory, playing solid defense the rest of the way.

The Panthers outshot the Huskies, 15-13, and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Burnett made seven stops on the day.

Northeastern plays its final match of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 29 when they take on Hofstra as part of a doubleheader with the men's team at Parsons Field. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
