Northeastern tripped up by Towson, 3-1

Women's soccer fell to the Towson Tigers Sunday afternoon, 3-1. The Huskies are now 7-6-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the CAA.

The Tigers got on the board first in the third minute of the match. Forward Emily Banes took a feed from fellow forward Cheyenne Skidmore and buried a shot from the center of the box. The goal was her seventh of the season.

After trading scoring opportunities throughout the first half, Northeastern nearly tied the score when Hanna Terry hit the post in the 43rd minute. Midfielder Taylor Skeffington then had her shot off the rebound blocked out of play.

Towson scored in the 48th minute to extend their lead to 2-0. Forward Sofia Read scored her fourth goal of the year.

The Huskies battled back ten minutes later as forward Veronica Napoli put home her seventh goal of the season.

The Tigers scored in the 83rd minute when midfielder Courtney McKee tallied her third goal of the year, assisted by Skidmore.

Towson outshot Northeastern, 13-11, and the teams tied in shots on goal, 4-4. Towson had seven corner kicks to Northeastern's six.

Women's soccer returns to action on Friday, Oct. 14 when they take on Old Dominion at Parsons Field. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
