Chaisson Allen scored 21 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished six assists to lead Northeastern to an 82-78 win over Towson on Wednesday night in Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball action at Matthews Arena. Allen became the first Husky to score 20+ points in five straight games since Jose Juan Barea in 2006.

The Tigers (4-20, 0-14 CAA) took an early lead and were up by six at halftime, but Allen led a second-half rally that had the Huskies (9-16, 5-9) up by eight before Towson closed the gap to two in the final minute.

Allen was joined by three other Huskies in double figures. Rookie Ryan Pierson added 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor, Jonathan Lee netted 16 points and Joel Smith hit double figures for the 10th straight game with 13 points. Kauri Black grabbed five rebounds to match Allen's team high.

Isaiah Philmore led the Tigers, notching 25 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor and eight rebounds. RaShawn Polk added 18 points and Brian Morris chipped in 15.

The Tigers jumped out to a 7-4 lead, but four straight points from Pierson put the Huskies up, 8-7. A Polk three kicked off a 7-0 run for Towson with a Polk tip-in giving the Tigers a 16-10 lead with 12:40 to go in the first half.

The Huskies came back to tie the game at 22-22 when a Lee jumper was followed by a pair of free throws from Allen. Polk and Smith traded threes to keep the score tied before a 6-0 Towson spurt gave the Tigers a 40-34 lead at the half.

Allen powered the Northeastern rally early in the second half, scoring or assisting on 17 straight Northeastern points. The senior guard set up back-to-back jumpers by Pierson and Lee before sinking a pair of free throws to put the Huskies up, 50-48. Erique Gumbs tipped in a shot to put the Tigers on top, but Allen answered with a three. After Philmore hit one of two free throws for the Tigers to tie the game at 53-53, Allen assisted on a Pierson layup and a Smith three to put the Huskies up, 58-53, with 11:51 to go.

Allen hit threes on consecutive Northeastern possessions to push the NU lead to 68-61 with 7:52 to go. The Huskies had their largest lead of the night when Pierson completed a traditional three-point play to put Northeastern up 72-64 with 4:53 to go.

The Tigers came back within two points in the final minute, but the Huskies sank enough free throws to escape with the win.

The Huskies shot 57.1 percent (28-of-49) from the floor and after going 2-for-11 from beyond the arc in the first half, shot 5-of-8 from three-point land in the second. The Tigers shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor and almost reversed Northeastern's three-point numbers, going 5-for-9 in the first half and 2-for-11 in the second. Towson held a 30-28 edge on the boards.
