The Northeastern field hockey team suffered a 6-2 setback against No. 1-ranked Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon in Norfolk, Va. The Huskies slip to 5-5 and 0-2 in conference play while the Lady Monarchs move to 10-0 on the year.

Junior Crystal Poland scored once again for Northeastern while veteran Pam Aldridge buried her fifth goal of the season in the loss. Junior netminder Lizzie Priest stopped nine shots on the day as Old Dominion outshot Northeastern, 24-7.

Old Dominion attacked first after Maartke vanRijswijk took matters into her own hands and blasted a shot past Priest after stripping it from the midfield at 4:22 for the 1-0 lead.

Poland answered back just over two minutes later off a penalty corner set up by senior Carolyn Malloy and junior Nicky Graham at 6:27 to sew the contest up, 1-1, but the Lady Monarchs netted the next five tallies to put the game out of reach.

vanRijswijk recorded her second of the day under a minute after Poland's blast at 7:11. vanRijswijk beat Priest to her left after accepting a pass from Lydia Velzian for the 2-1 buffer.

Christy Longacre put ODU up 3-1 off a penalty corner from Rebecca Condie at 19:45 while Cassandra Wagner netted a fast break goal on a tic-tac-toe play from Kathryn Kirk at 25:29 for the 4-1 advantage.

Rebecca Condie had her say with 18 seconds remaining in the first half after potting a rebound from a penalty corner at 34:42.

Condie added her second in the same fashion at 45:28 before Aldridge added a late goal for the Huskies after a great steal from a crossing pass. Aldridge duped ODU goaltender Devon Seifert at 51:40, but it was not enough as ODU went on for the triumph. 6-2.

Northeastern opens up a five-game home stand starting this Friday, Sept. 30 against James Madison at 2 p.m.
