BROOKLINE, MASS. -- Goals from redshirt sophomores Devin Griffin and Hannah O'Donnell lifted the Northeastern women's soccer team over the Towson Tigers, 2-1, on Friday evening at Parsons Field.

Griffin (Whitman, Mass.) tallied in the 25th minute, while O'Donnell (Dallas, Texas) sent home the game-winner in the 62nd minute. Griffin also assisted on O'Donnell's game-winner, marking her first helper of the season and eighth of her career.

With the win, Northeastern moves to 4-2 in CAA play and 6-8 overall. Towson drops to 1-12-1 (1-5 CAA). Paige Burnett made a save in net to earn the win for NU, while Erin Quinn made five stops in the losing effor for the Tigers.

Junior Hanna Terry (Park City, Utah) had the contest's first real chance in the 7th minute, winding a rocket on net from 30 yards out that Quinn dove to stop. Terry nearly set up redshirt sophomore Hannah O'Donnell (Dallas, Texas) minutes laters, but her open look rung the crossbar.

Northeastern broke the scoreless draw in the 25th minute with Griffin's second tally of the year. Taking a lead pass from Terry, Griffin beat a defender in the box one on one before sneaking a low shot past Quinn to give NU the lead. The helper marked Terry's team-high fourth assist of the year.

Emily Banes took Towson's first shot on goal in the 37th minute, forcing Burnett to dive and corrall the chance. Freshman Emily Nasuti (Millbury, Mass.) nearly gave NU another goal a minute later, but Quinn made a sparkling save on her shot from ten yards out.

The Huskies took their 1-0 lead into the half after dominating the opening frame. NU outshot Towson 10-5 in the period, including a 4-1 edge in shots on goal.

Towson got on the board in the 56th minute to equalize. Banes won a scramble 25 yards away and popped a shot towards net. The shot appeared to be sailing over the net, but instead found its way between the crossbar and Burnett's outstretched fingertips to tie the contest at 1-1.

NU responded in the 62nd minute. Griffin played a long through ball to O'Donnell, who stayed onsides and beat her defender one on one before blasting her second goal of the year past Quinn.

Neither team was able to generate much of another threat, and NU held on for the 2-1 victory. The Huskies outshot TU 15-7 on the day, with a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. NU also outdrewTowson on the corner kick front, picking up six to Towson's two.

The Huskies close out their 2012 home slate on Sunday afternoon when the George Mason Patriots visit Parsons Field. NU's four seniors will be honored prior to the game. Kick-off is set for 12 p.m.
