The Northeastern women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Drexel on Thursday afternoon at Parsons Field. With the loss, NU moves to 4-8 on the year and 2-2 in CAA play, while Drexel jumps to 9-2-2 (3-1-1 CAA).

Drexel's Eve Badana made three saves for the Dragons to record her CAA-best seventh shutout of the year. Alex Vasquez scored the game's lone goal, and redshirt sophomore Devin Griffin (Whitman, Mass.) led the way for NU with two shots. Sophomore Paige Burnett (Placentia, Calif.) made one save in net for NU, her lowest total of the season.

The Dragons outshot the Huskies 9-6 on the day, including a 7-3 edge in the second stanza. Only three corner kicks were generated on the day, with UD picking up two to NU's one.

Redshirt sophomore Devin Griffin (Whitman, Mass.)had the first chance for NU, firing a shot on net in the second minute that  Badana corralled.

Northeastern had another chance in the 21st minute. After winning a free kick from just outside the penalty box, junior Hanna Terry (Park City, Utah) tapped a ball to a streaking Emily Nasuti (Millbury, Mass.) in the box, but the rookie's blast was turned aside by Badana. Terry nearly set up another rookie, Morgan Hilby (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), in the 38th minute, but Badana was again up to the task.

Drexel generated the game's first corner kick in the 42nd minute, and Christine Stevenson's serve in was poked aside by Burnett and out of harm's way. The teams went to the half scoreless.

Griffin nearly put NU on the board moments into the first half, taking a chance deep in the box, but her missle sailed over the crossbar. Jess Lowinger picked up Drexel's first shot on goal in the 56th minute, forcing Burnett to making a diving stop.

Vasquez finally broke the draw for the Dragons in the 74th minute, winning a scramble at the top of the penalty box and sending home a strike past Burnett into the upper left corner of the cage.

Senior Sandra Magnusdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) appeared to have a chance for NU in the 86th minute, firing an open look toward net that sailed wide. In the game's final minute NU earned a free kick after a Drexel handball, but Greta Samuelsdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) sent a blast wide and Drexel held on.

The Huskies hit the road on Sunday to continue conference play against the Delaware Blue Hens. Game time in Newark, Del. is set for 1 p.m.
