WILLIAMSBURG, Va., Feb. 11, 2012--The Northeastern men's basketball team dropped a 79-54 decision to William & Mary on Saturday night in Williamsburg, Va. The Tribe found its offensive rhythm early en route to a season-high total for points.
Freshman
Quincy Ford (St. Petersburg, Fla.) scored a career-high 21 points on 62-percent shooting to lead Northeastern (11-14, 7-8 CAA). Ford also collected four steals, three rebounds and two blocks. Fellow rookie

The Huskies kept pace with the Tribe early in the first half. Ford and Spencer combined to score the team's first six points, with a lay-up by the latter drawing the visitors even at 6-6 with 14:21 remaining in the half.
After 90 seconds of scoreless basketball, W&M rattled off an 11-2 run in just under three minutes to build a nine-point advantage. The Huskies twice cut the margin to four, the second time on a lay-up by freshman
Marco Banegas-Flores (Boston, Mass.) with 4:47 showing on the clock. The basket was the Huskies' last of the half, as the Tribe scored the final 15 points to take a 41-22 lead into the locker room.
Ford registered the first points of the second half for either team on a dunk in transition. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native converted another lay-up and Spencer hit two free throws to counter four W&M points and cut the lead to 17.
The hot-handed Tribe continued its impressive offensive performance. Shooting at a 47-percent clip in the second half, the home team built a 32-point lead before the Huskies scored seven straight to close the game and set the final margin.
Northeastern connected on 45 percent (22-49) of its shot attempts on the evening. The Huskies, though, went just 3-of-13 (23 percent) from beyond the arc. The three made 3-pointers tied for the second fewest since November. William & Mary had the hot hand all night, and shot 49 percent (30-61) from the field. The Tribe was even more impressive from long range, connecting on 50 percent (10-20) of its attempts. The Huskies were 7-of-11 (64 percent) from the free throw line compared to 9-of-13 (69 percent) for W&M. William & Mary out-rebounded Northeastern, 38-24.
Northeastern will return home for the first time in two weeks on Tuesday when it welcomes Towson to historic Matthews Arena. The game, scheduled to tip at 7 p.m., is the first game of a three-game home-stand. Ticket information is available at GoNU.com/tickets.
