BROOKLINE, MASS.- An 85th minute penalty kick conversion led to a 1-0 defeat for the Northeastern women's soccer team at the hands of Brown University on Thursday night at Parsons Field.
The Huskies dominated for most of the opening frame, but were unable to score in the half. Brown took over in the second half, applying pressure until finally getting the chance to punch in the free chance game-winner.
For the game, Brown outshot the Huskies 12-9, including a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Junior 
Hanna Terry (Park City, Utah) and senior 
Greta Samuelsdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) led NU with three shots apiece.
Terry nearly got the Huskies on the board moments into the contest, but her second minute shot dipped inches over the crossbar.
The Huskies controlled much of possession in the first half, but were unable to get a goal across. NU outshot the Bears 6-3 in the first half, but the teams held a 1-1 mark in shots on goal.
Freshman 
Emily Nasuti (Millbury, Mass.) had NU's first chance of the second half when she won a long ball from sophomore 
Lahaina Zoller (Honolulu, Hawaii), but her blast was stuffed by MC Barrett. Chloe Cross nearly got Brown on the board in the 56th minute, before Burnett sprawled to make a diving save. Sophomore 
Paige Burnett (Placentia, Calif.) was again up to task minutes later on a Alison Mullin chance and the contest remained scoreless.
Burnett made another huge save in the 71st minute, getting the tips of her fingers on a blast from Diana Ohrt to send it over the crossbar. The Bears finally got on the board to break the draw in the 85th minute, when a Norhteastern foul in the box led to a penalty kick for Mika Siegelman, which she converted past a diving Burnett.
The Huskies hit the midpoint of their five-game home stand on Sunday afternoon when the Great Danes of Albany visit Brookline. Game time is set for 1 p.m., and will conclude Northeastern's 2012 non-conference slate.
