BOSTON – The Northeastern women's soccer team concluded its regular-season slate with a 0-0 tie against William & Mary at Parsons Field on Sunday afternoon. The tie allowed the Huskies to secure the No. 3 seed in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships and they will host a quarterfinal match on Sunday, Nov. 3. Opponent and time are TBA.

Northeastern (5-8-3, 5-2-1 CAA) played into its seventh overtime game of the season and is 1-2-4 in extra periods.

One game after firing 14 shots total shots against James Madison, the Huskies continued to showcase their offensive prowess. Northeastern tallied seven first-half shots while holding the Tribe to just one.

Early in the game Morgan Hilby headed a corner kick on net, but W&M goalkeeper Caroline Casey made the stop. Hilby made another bid to put NU ahead 1-0 with less than a minute left in the first half when her shot attempt from just outside the box on the right side was tipped over the net by Casey.

W&M (8-2-6, 5-1-2 CAA) didn't attempt a shot until 36th minute when Aly Shaughnessy put the ball over the net from 20 yards out.

The Tribe kept pace with the Huskies in the second half as both teams tallied four shots in the period.

The Huskies had a couple of great chances to score late in the second half. Haley Sinclair made a quick touch off a free kick, but the ball hit the post with four minutes remaining. Hanna Terry lined up a free kick from 25 yards out with 2:30 remaining, but Casey made a diving stop to her right, preserving the scoreless tie and sending the game into overtime.

The Tribe had the best opportunity to score in the first overtime, but Paige Burnett made a diving save on W&M's Leci Irvin. The teams remained scoreless after the first extra frame.

Carina Deandreis had the only shot on goal in the second overtime, which was saved by Casey, her fourth and final save of the match.

Burnett needed just two saves for the afternoon to record her fourth shutout of the season, all of which have come against CAA opponents. The Huskies outshot W&M, 15-7.

Before the start of the game Northeastern honored Allie Coppenrath, Hannah O'Donnell and Hanna Terry for Senior Day.
