CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – No. 5/5 Boston College (9-2-0, 5-1-0) used a trio of power play goals and a shorthanded marker en route to a 6-1 win against the Northeastern women's ice hockey team (5-6-1, 2-3-1) on Sunday night at Conte Forum.

Brittany Esposito scored the lone goal for the Huskies, while Chloe Desjardins made 14 saves in goal before being replaced by Sarah Foss late in regulation. Emily Field, Haley Skarupa and Dana Trivigno all scored twice for the Eagles and Corinne Boyles made 30 stops in goal.

Northeastern outshot BC 31-24 for the game, while the Eagles went 3-of-7 on the power play and held the Huskies to a 0-of-4 showing on the man advantage.

The teams went back and forth during the opening 20 minutes with the Huskies holding a 12-9 edge in shots on goal, but with the score tied at one late in the frame, the Eagles buried a power play tally to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Boston College took a 1-0 lead with 8:03 left in the first period when Field netted her sixth goal of the year, creating a turnover behind the Husky goal during an NU power play, and tucking a shot inside the left post before Desjardins could get back in her crease.

Northeastern would strike back less than two minutes later when Esposito knocked home her first of the season. After Hayley Scamurra created a turnover in the defensive zone, she skated the puck through the neutral zone and fired a shot on goal that Boyles steered aside. Esposito, however, crashed the net and hammered home the rebound to knot the score at one.

The Eagles went on the power play with 2:31 to play in the stanza, and retook the lead with 1:18 left when Trivigno one-timed a cross-ice pass from Skarupa past Desjardins for Trivigno's second of the season.

Each team had several chances to put their team in good position during the second period, but it was the Eagles who cashed in on their second power play of the frame to take a two-goal lead through 40 minutes of play. Northeastern's best chance of the middle frame came shorthanded when Katie MacSorley took a feed from Paige Savage and flew down the right side before flinging a shot on goal, but Boyles was there to make the save.

Boston College went up 3-1 with 3:45 remaining in the period as Skarupa potted her 11th goal of the season with the Eagles on the power play. Lexi Bender began the play when she took a pass from Taylor Wasylk and fired a shot on goal that Desjardins handled with her pad, but the rebound popped right out to Skarupa, who sent it home for the score.

BC took a commanding 4-1 lead early in the third period when Field took a pass from Trivigno, skated around a NU defender and fired a shot that got through Desjardins for Field's second of the night.

The Eagles would go on the power play minutes after the Field tally, and Skarupa netted her second of the game when she rocketed home a loose puck from the right face-off dot. They would add a sixth off a turnover in the neutral zone late in regulation, resulting in Trivigno's second of the night off a pass form Field.

The Huskies will be back in action next week when Northeastern travels to Vail, Colo. for two games, beginning on Friday night against No. 2 Wisconsin at 9:07 p.m. (ET).
