TOWSON, Md. – Jason Vosler's second home run of the day -- a two-run shot in the top of the ninth inning -- nearly gave Northeastern enough muscle to edge out a victory at Towson, but in the end the Tigers (25-27, 14-12 CAA) used a walk-off single in the bottom of the frame to put the Huskies (27-24, 11-15 CAA) away, 7-6, claiming the season series on Friday.

Led by Vosler's two-home run performance, the Huskies grabbed four long shots on the afternoon -- the most in one game all season. Michael Foster and Rob Fonseca joined in on the slugfest as well, recording their third and fourth home runs, respectively. Foster, who also pitched for two innings, extended his hit streak to 11 games with his two-hit outing.

Sophomore Nick Berger took the mound on Friday for the Huskies, who needed a win to secure a spot in the CAA Tournament. Berger earned a no-decision after going 6.2 innings in the loss, giving up five runs on 10 hits and punching out four batters in the process.

After little action in the first stanza, Foster once again produced the Huskies' first run, this time belting a solo shot -- his fourth of the year -- to right field on the third pitch he saw. Down 1-0 lead early, Towson jumped back into things with an RBI single from Blosser to even the contest up at 1-1.

Two scoreless innings drew by until the Tigers earned their first lead of the afternoon with a leadoff solo home run from Parker. Berger allowed two more hits in the frame, but the sophomore got Wertz to strikeout to end the fifth inning, with the Huskies trailing just 2-1.

NU pounced in the top of the sixth with two more home runs. Fonseca belted a two-run shot to left field, pushing himself and Aaron Barbosa across. But the Husky bats weren't finished, as Vosler broke a recent 2-for-38 slump with a home run of his own to right, extending NU's lead to 4-2.

The Huskies went down in order in the top of the seventh inning, leaving room for Towson to regain the lead in the home-half of the frame. The always-dangerous Wertz cracked his third home run of the series with two outs, driving in three runs as Towson took a tenuous 5-4 lead into the eighth.

After Northeastern was once again retired in order to start the eighth, Towson added another run on the board. Blosser doubled to left center off of Foster, who came in at the close of the seventh in relief of Berger.

Three outs away from losing the series, Northeastern surged ahead in the ninth thanks to Vosler second long ball of the day. Foster grabbed his second hit of the afternoon just before his classmate tied things up with a shot to right. But Foster walked Wertz and plunked Fratantuono to put runners on first and second with one out. After a wild pitch move both runners up a station, Butler shot the game-winning single up the middle, allowing TU to take the series with the 7-6 victory.

Still needing one more win to secure its spot in the CAA Tournament, Northeastern looks to avoid the sweep on Saturday. The Tigers and Huskies will do battle at John B. Schuerholz Park at 1 p.m.
