BOSTON – Facing a 1-0 halftime deficit, the Northeastern men's soccer team (2-2-2) outshot Boston University 7-2 during a hard second half press, but could not net the equalizer as the Terriers topped the Huskies on Tuesday night at Nickerson Field, 1-0.

Dylan Faber made two saves for the Huskies, who outshot BU 13-6 for the match and earned eight corner opportunities to Boston University's one.

Despite being outshot 6-4 in the opening half, it was the Terriers who walked into intermission with the game's lone goal, a tally from Felix De Bona in the 33rd minute.

The Terriers made a push for an early goal in the 11th minute as Mac McGuire caused a turnover in the Northeastern third before trying to send a cross into the box. Ambry Moss, however, recovered well to head the ball out of play.

Minutes later, McGuire found the ball on his foot yet again, this time threaded a ball across to Anthony Ciccone streaking towards the back post, but Ciccone's shot was just off the mark and out of play.

At the other end of the field, Christian McKenna generated one of NU's four shots during the first 45 minutes of play when he took a long pass along the right side before firing a shot on goal that BU goalkeeper Matt Gilbert corralled for the save.

Boston University would take a 1-0 lead with less than 12 minutes remaining in the half on a set piece from 25 yards out when Ciccone sent a ball into the box that De Bona got a head on, sending it on one bounce into the left corner for his second goal of the season.

The Huskies woke up during the second half in search of the game's tying goal, outshooting BU 7-2 in the final period and earning six corner chances to the Terriers' one. Midway through the second, the NU offense began to push the Boston University defense to the brink, beginning with Jonathan Eckford's rip from nearly 30 yards out that Gilbert barely got a glove on, resulting in an NU corner.

On the ensuing corner, Terence Carter's entry pass into the box was headed on goal by Simon Cox, but Gilbert was there once again to deny the scoring bid.

Dante Marini had a few opportunities of his own as the half wore on, including one with 13:50 left in regulation when he took a pass from McKenna, but lost possession as he headed towards goal.

Faber kept Northeastern in the match at his end of the pitch, including a huge save on McGuire on a shot from point blank range with less than five minutes left.

Marini would make a last ditch effort for the Huskies with an incredible run in the game's final minutes. After controlling the box in the midfield, Marini was tripped up heading into the attacking third, but quickly got to his first, retained possession and rocketed a shot towards the middle of the goal. Gilbert, however, was there to make the stop and secure victory for the Terriers.

The Huskies will return home to Parsons Field on Saturday when Northeastern hosts Columbia at 6 p.m.
