BOSTON – The Northeastern women's hockey team (6-7-3) scored three power-play goals against No. 7 Harvard, but it was not enough as the Crimson (3-2-2) rallied for a 4-3 win on Saturday at Matthews Arena.

Sophomore Hayley Scamurra extended her point-streak to a career-best six straight games with two first-period goals, while freshman Denisa Krizova scored for the fourth straight game. Krizova put the Huskies ahead, 3-2, in the opening minute of the third period, but goals from Harvard's Sydney Daniels and Hillary Crowe turned the Crimson's deficit into a lead midway through the final frame.

The Huskies' power-play went 3-for-5 on the day and connected for the fifth straight game. Over that span, Northeastern has scored 11 power-play goals on its last 19 chances, good for a 58-percent clip.

Senior Chloe Desjardins stopped 32 shots for Northeastern, while Harvard netminder Brianna Laing turned aside 25 pucks. The Crimson held a 36-28 advantage in shots, while the Huskies posted a 28-26 edge in the faceoff circle.

Scamurra staked the Huskies to a 2-0 lead midway through the opening period with a pair of power-play goals. The first came on a rush up the ice at the 4:03 mark of the frame. Taking a feed from sophomore Heather Mottau in the defensive zone, Scamurra weaved up the ice with speed, before ripping a shot from the left circle that squeezed inside the near post to put NU ahead. 

The Williamsville, New York, native doubled the advantage midway through the frame with a beautiful finish at the left of the cage. On a 2-on-1 break, senior Chelsey Goldberg feathered a perfect centering pass through the crease to Scamurra, who whacked the puck past Laing to give the Huskies a two-goal cushion.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Harvard battled back to pull even late in the period. Miye D'Oench cut the NU advantage to 2-1 at the 13:17 mark, stashing home a rebound at the side of the net after Samantha Reber's initial shot was stopped by Desjardins.

Lexie Laing then knotted the score at 2-2 with a shot that slipped through the five-hole of Desjardins on a power play with 1:07 remaining in the opening frame.

The lead held into the third period when Krizova broke the tie with her fifth tally of the season. Laing initially stopped junior Jordan Krause's point-shot, and then stoned Krizova once on the doorstep, before the NU rookie found the puck and buried a shot in tight to make it 3-2 Huskies just 40 seconds into the third.

Once again, Harvard battled back as Daniels collected a rebound at the left of the net and blasted a shot into the upper right corner to even the score just 1:10 later.

The Crimson went ahead for good at the 9:13 mark of the third. On another second-chance opportunity,  Crowe was able to find a loose puck at the side of the net and bury a rebound off a Mary Parker shot to give Harvard its first lead of the game. 

Northeastern tried frantically to tie the game in the final seconds. With Desjardins on the bench in favor of an extra attacker, junior Kendall Coyne threw a pass across the goal-mouth to Mottau, but the puck bounced as the sophomore was pulling the trigger and the shot skittered wide. 

Northeastern returns to action on Tuesday for a home game against Union. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
