HUSKIES FACEOFF AGAINST NO. 1 BOSTON COLLEGE
The Northeastern women's hockey team (2-4-3, 1-2-0 WHEA) will look to knock off the No. 1 team in the country on Saturday when it welcomes rival Boston College to Matthews Arena for a 2 p.m. contest. Northeastern last defeated BC in the 2013 Hockey East semifinals, 4-1, but has not beaten the Eagles in conference action since a 7-4 win at Matthews Arena on Jan. 11, 2010. This is Northeastern's 16th game against the national No. 1 in program history.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College enters as the No. 1 team in the nation in both national polls. The Eagles are off to a 7-0-1 start, including a 3-0-0 mark in Hockey East play, and lead the nation in scoring offense with 5.25 goals per game. Boston College scored 10 goals against Syracuse to open the season (10-2), and has scored at least four goals in each of its last five games. Leading scorer Alex Carpenter (18 points in seven games) is currently the captain of the Team USA squad at the Four Nations Cup and will not be in uniform on Saturday.

LAST TIME VS. BC
Northeastern and Boston College last met on Feb. 11 in the final of the 2014 Women's Beanpot in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Powered by a 25-save shutout from Corinne Boyles, the Eagles claimed the Beanpot title with a 3-0 victory on home ice. Chloe Desjardins made 27 saves for Northeastern, while Katie MacSorley led the Huskies with eight shots.

HISTORY VS. NO. 1
Northeastern is 1-13-1 all-time against the No. 1 team in the nation dating back to the inception of the USCHO.com national poll in 1999. The Huskies' lone victory came on Jan. 5, 2001 in a 4-0 rout of then-No. 1 Dartmouth. The last No. 1 team the Huskies faced was Harvard on Feb. 5, 2008 in the Women's Beanpot, a game the Crimson won by a 3-1 score.

SAVAGE, COYNE HEAD TO 4NC
Juniors Paige Savage and Kendall Coyne have joined up with Team USA for the 2014 Four Nations Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia. The competition, which will take place Nov. 4-8, features the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden in a round-robin format. Coyne will be making her fifth appearance for the Americans at the Four Nations Cup, having previously helped the team to gold medals in 2011 and '12. Coyne tied for the team scoring lead with six points in 2011, and netted the game-winning goal in a 3-0 U.S. victory over Canada in the 2012 final. This will be Savage's first 4NC appearance.

KRIZOVA, POVOVA JOURNEY TO JAPAN
Redshirt junior Lucie Povova and freshman Denisa Krizova are on international duty this week with the Czech Republic National Team. The Czechs face Japan in Yokohama for a three-game playoff series that will decide the final participant in the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship. The winner will join Germany, Switzerland and Sweden in Group B of the IIHF's premier event.

DESJARDINS NETS DEFENSIVE HONOR
Senior Chloe Desjardins was named the WHEA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Desjardins posted a 1-2-0 record with a 1.35 GAA and a .955 save percentage against BU, New Hampshire and Maine last week. Desjardins stopped 86 of 90 shots overall, including all 28 in a shutout vs. the Wildcats on Oct. 30.
