Scott Eatherton scored a game-high 22 points and notched his first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds to help the Northeastern men's basketball team to an 81-69 win over Western Michigan in non-conference play Saturday at Matthews Arena.

The Huskies (6-2) never trailed in the game and notched their highest scoring output since a 90-81 victory over Drexel on March 8, 2014.
Northeastern out-rebounded Western Michigan (5-3) by a 40-26 margin and made 23-of-26 free throws (89 percent). The Huskies shot 46 percent (26-of-56) from the field and outscored the reigning MAC champions, 34-28, in the paint.
Eatherton was joined in double-figure scoring by junior
David Walker (19 points), redshirt junior
Quincy Ford (13 points) and sophomore
T.J. Williams (12 points). Ford and junior
Zach Stahl each posted season highs in rebounds with nine apiece.
Austin Richie hit six 3-pointers (6-of-9) to lead the Broncos with 18 points. Tucker Haymond added 17 points and seven rebounds, while Connar Tava (16 points) and David Brown (10 points) also finished in double-figure scoring.
Eatherton scored the first five points of the game to help Northeastern jump out to a 7-3 lead in the opening three minutes.
The Huskies' leading scorer then turned provider at the 14-minute mark. After extending a possession with an offensive rebound, Eatherton found Ford for an open 3-pointer from the right wing to push the advantage to seven at 10-3.
Northeastern turned to its backcourt to extend the lead to double digits at the midway point of the first half. A corner three from Williams put NU ahead, 17-7, before a steal and dunk by Walker gave the hosts a 12-point cushion.
The teams then traded 3-pointers, with Williams capping the exchange with his second triple of the day–a new career best–to make it 22-10 Northeastern with 11:03 remaining in the half.
The Broncos used a 6-0 spurt to pull within seven, 32-25, in the waning minutes of the frame, but a corner triple from Walker with 20 seconds left restored Northeastern's double-digit lead heading into the half.
Coming out of the locker room, the hosts once again looked to Eatherton, who connected on three straight layups to make it 41-29 in the opening minutes.
Western Michigan used a 14-8 run to pull within six at 53-47 at the 12:21 mark, but a baseline jumper from Eatherton and a 3-pointer from Ford quickly restored the Huskies' double-digit lead at 58-47 midway through the second stanza.
A pair of Richie 3-pointers pulled the Broncos back within six, 75-69, with under a minute to play, but a dunk from Walker and a layup by Williams sealed an impressive performance by the Huskies.
Northeastern will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 17, for a match-up against Cal Poly at the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, California. Three days later, NU will take on the host Broncos, before wrapping up the West Coast swing with a game at St. Mary's on Dec. 22.
