The Tribe led, 63-60, with 5:23 to play, before holding the Huskies to just 1-of-9 shooting down the stretch to snap NU's five-game CAA winning streak.
Northeastern never led, but pulled within a basket five times in the second half after trailing by 11 at halftime, 38-27.
Redshirt junior
Quincy Ford led the Red & Black with 17 points, while sophomore
T.J. Williams added 14 points, and senior
Scott Eatherton chipped in 12 points and tied a season high with four blocks.
The Tribe shot 52.7 percent (29-for-55) and were led by Omar Prewitt's 19 points. Terry Tarpey (15 points), Sean Sheldon (15 points) and Marcus Thornton (13) also contributed double-figure scoring performances as William & Mary improved to 7-1 all-time against the Huskies at home.Â
Despite out-rebounding the Tribe by a 35-28 margin, the Huskies struggled from the perimeter, shooting 2-for-20 from downtown, while turning the ball over 14 times.
Giveaways were the story in the opening three minutes as four NU turnovers led to a quick 6-0 William & Mary lead.
The Huskies responded with a 3-pointer from junior
David Walker to close the gap to three at 17-14, but a 9-0 Tribe run put the hosts back in control, 26-14, with 8:30 to play in the half.
After trailing by 11 at the break, Northeastern came out fast in the second half and quickly cut the gap back to six, 43-37, after a steal by Walker led to a layup and foul shot from Ford.
Another jumper from Ford brought NU within two at 47-45 with 12:44 showing on the second half clock, but again W&M had a response with a 12-7 run of its own to bump the score to 59-52.
Ford then rattled off seven straight points to again bring NU within striking distance at 63-60, but the Huskies would get no closer down the stretch.
The Huskies, who are 6-0 following losses this season, will look to bounce back yet again on Wednesday when they travel to Drexel for a 7 p.m. tip.
