Following a first half full of decisive runs, the Seahawks took a 34-31 edge into the locker room. UNCW opened the game on a 10-1 run until a mid-range jumper by Walker ignited a 10-2 Northeastern spurt to tie the game at 14-apiece eight minutes into the contest.
The Seahawks followed with a 9-0 run, highlighted by a layup and 3-pointer by Jackson, before Ford responded with five straight points to help bring NU back within one, 25-24, with 5:36 left in the half.
The Huskies stayed within one after Walker buried his second triple of the frame with 58 ticks showing on the clock, but a jumper by Talley pushed the UNCW advantage to three heading to the break.
Northeastern stayed within a bucket at 46-43 at the 11:38 mark of the second half, before succumbing to a five-minute cold stretch in which NU went scoreless and turned the ball over four times.Â
During the same span, UNCW went on a 9-0 run to go up 55-43 with just over six minutes to play.
Junior
Caleb Donnelly did his best to bring the Red & Black back, drilling a pair of 3-pointers to pull the Huskies within seven, 69-62, with a minute to play.
