CAA releaseRICHMOND, Va. – After scoring two goals last week, including the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory against William & Mary, Northeastern men's soccer forward
Frantzdy Pierrot was named CAA Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Â
A three-time CAA Rookie of the Week selection during 2014, Pierrot adds a fourth weekly award to his already impressive league resume with his first career Player of the Week nod. Last week, the Port-au-Prince, Haiti native was the only CAA player to score multiple goals as he helped Northeastern (1-7-2, 1-3-0 CAA) celebrate its first conference victory of the year.
Â
Entering last week having scored two goals in six games, Pierrot upped his season count to three on Oct. 7 during the Huskies' game against No. 13 Elon. On a set piece in the 11th minute, the 6-4 forward fought to create open space on the right side of the box and proceeded to head in Northeastern's first goal against an NSCAA ranked team in more than six years.
Â
Three days later, Pierrot boosted his goal streak to three consecutive games, netting the game-winning goal in the 88th minute as the Huskies defeated William & Mary on Oct. 10. With his back turned to the goal, the NU striker juked his defender and rolled around his right shoulder, chipping the ball over the keeper to put Northeastern ahead for good at 2-0.
Â
Pierrot will look to keep his goal streak alive on Wednesday, Oct. 14, as the Huskies square off against CAA-undefeated No. 14 Hofstra in Hempstead, New York. NU currently finds itself in a four-way tie for sixth place in the league standings with three points.
