Both teams enjoyed quality chances throughout an evenly-matched contest, but ultimately JMU (12-6-2) came out on top when Herndon slotted a 99th-minute penalty under the outstretched arms of
Nathalie Nidetch for the game's only goal.Â
Nidetch (four saves) played a stellar game between the posts, making a pair of huge stops on Alyssa Zurlo in the second half to keep the game scoreless.
The Huskies' best chance of the day came in the 65th minute when
Kayla Cappuzzo found space in the box and fired a shot inches wide of the top right corner.
The result moves JMU on to the CAA semifinals against No. 1 Hofstra, while the Huskies are eliminated from postseason contention.
Goal Recaps• The only goal of the game came after JMU's Allie Bunner was dragged down in the penalty box in the 99th minute. Herndon then stepped up and drilled the ensuing penalty inside the right post to give the hosts the victory.
